Penticton’s four-star rated scenery makes it one of the top BC moving destinations.

With housing prices on the rise and more employees working remotely, rural, spacious, and quiet neighborhoods are a hot commodity. Canadians living in urban centers are looking for affordable places to relocate. According to a new survey conducted by Ratesdot.ca, this urban exodus is especially significant here in BC. Ranked on affordability, growth potential, and lifestyle, 35 BC communities are now on the list of 150 Canadian top communities. Two communities happen to be found right here in the Okanagan that are ranked Top 10 in British Columbia. Our Kelowna moving company is taking it further by looking at the top 5 moving destinations in the Okanagan, where people can fully work from home and enjoy life to the fullest.

1. Kelowna

With a population of  200,000 and an average home price of $550,000, Kelowna ranks as the Top 2 place to live in Canada according to ratesdot.ca. Our moving company in Kelowna agrees. With its bounty of green spaces, beaches, agricultural land (vineyard and orchards included!), and amenities, Kelowna has everything a city slicker could want from a smaller centre, including a selection of housing options from new downtown condos to luxury lake view estates.

2. West Kelowna

Formerly known as Westbank, Kelowna’s southern neighbour has seen immense growth in the last decade. Many people are hiring long-distance movers to relocate here. Landmarked by the former stratovolcano, Mount Boucherie, West Kelowna is more than just a bedroom community. The city has its share of shops, restaurants, wineries, beautiful parks, beaches, and golf courses, along with a wide selection of housing options.

3. Lake Country

The District of Lake Country is located just north of Kelowna, Home to Bekins Kelowna moving company, and boasts semi-rural and rural living at its best. Often compared with the Tuscany region of Italy, Lake Country’s hillsides are dotted with farms, orchards, and wineries. While shopping, restaurants, UBC Okanagan, and Kelowna International Airport (YLW) are all located within a short drive.

4. Penticton

Penticton is also on the Ratesdot.com list (at #9) for a good reason. With less than 50,000 people, Penticton has a four-star scenery rating and has one of the highest average one-year home growth prices, making it an excellent investment. Residents enjoy the Okanagan and Skaha Lakes, with attractions that run from the Kettle Valley Railway, Naramata Bench wineries to gorgeous beaches, a picturesque downtown, and much more.

5. Vernon

Our Kelowna movers have added one more Okanagan city to the list of top moving destinations, and that’s Vernon. An unsung gem, Vernon and its neighbouring community of Coldstream are situated smack dab in between two beautiful lakes — Kalamalka and Okanagan. Only a short drive to a world-class ski resort (Silver Star Mountain) and surrounded by grassland and forest, Vernon’s growth rate continues to rise with families, empty-nesters, and retirees looking for a quiet place to call home.
