Let Bekins, your long distance movers, do all the hard work while you do some sightseeing across the country.

Imagine exploring the Alberta Badlands or stopping for an ice cream at one of Canada’s many roadside attractions. If you have time to travel after your long distance movers pick up your belongings, why not take that road trip you have always longed to do.

Bekins’ moving services allow you the chance to embark on that sightseeing adventure. As your long distance movers, we can hold and store your possessions for a week or two before meeting you at your new home.

If you are travelling to or from Ontario, BC or Alberta within Canada, there are a number of stops you may want to make along the way:

1. Get your photo taken with a gigantic Canadian roadside attraction

Plan to visit some of these unique sites while your long distance movers carry your goods:

  • Canada goose in Wawa, ON
  • Terry Fox Monument in Thunder Bay, ON
  • World’s largest perogie in Glendon, AB
  • Mining truck in Sparwood, BC

2. Visit Canada’s brand, new museum

The new Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a national museum in Winnipeg, MB and offers food for thought on human rights around the world. Its architecture, with the giant tower named after the late Israel “Izzy” Asper, offers panoramic views of Winnipeg. A statue of Mahatma Gandhi, gifted to the museum by the high commissioner for India to Canada, sits at the entrance.

3. Head underground to visit historical tunnels

Deep underground in Moose Jaw, SK, are the tunnels that served as a bootlegging outpost during the Prohibition. Al Capone and his Chicago gang were said to run booze through the tunnels, which also served as a refuge for Chinese railway labourers unable to pay the Canadian government’s head tax.

4. Roam with the dinosaurs

Located at the epicentre of Canada’s Badlands, the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, AB is a must visit for anyone who wants to discover about the original long distance movers – dinosaurs. Look up to a life-size skeleton of a T-Rex, or uncover a newly discovered fossil. Guided hikes are provided amongst the hills and hoodoos of the Badlands, and the kids will love the hands-on workshops, where they can dig up their own dinosaur treasure.

5. Check out a BC haunt

Located west of Revelstoke, BC, 3 Valley Gap features the Heritage Ghost Town, where you can relive BC’s gold rush days. There are more than 25 historic buildings, including an antique auto museum and railway roundhouse, onsite.

The Enchanted Forest, just down the road on the Trans Canada Highway, features a walk through an old growth forest, where fairy-tale characters and giant tree houses await you. You can also tackle the ropes obstacle course amongst the treetops at the adjacent Skytrek Adventure Park.
